Observation point- take a moment to look around and appreciate what you see around you. Stand at the storm outfall to the creek and look around. What do you see? The storm manhole cover that directs water from the streets to the creek? Think about that when you wash your cars in the driveway, all that soap and dirt is going to the stream. Look downstream, do you see all the woody debris on the banks? This area receives high flows during wet conditions due to all the hard surface runoff from streets and homes as the water can't absorp into the ground through the hard surfaces (roads). Did you see the NO DUMPING sign on the way in? did you notice that people dump garbage over the bank anyway? Look at the fallen tree with roots pulled right out, that is called a "windfall" and these trees will provide more habitat for species then they did when they were standing.
