Geocache Description:

CAPTAIN FAWCETT 4X4 EVENT - NANGA TO LONG GULLY BRIDGE

OFFICIAL EVENT PROCEEDINGS TO BE HELD AT THE OLD NANGA MILL TOWNSITE FROM 8.30 - 9.30AM.

Come & join us for a weekend of fun at the Lane Poole Reserve... The event is to take place on Saturday 15th March 2014, however it would be recommended that you camp for the weekend to take in the atmosphere & unwind a little. Anyone is eligible to "attend" the event, however to partake in the day's activities you must have a 4WD (or at least have a seat in one).

The "Official" Event is to be held at the Old Nanga Mill Townsite from 8.30am - 9.30am. A logbook will be present for those attending during this time... The event will be followed by a day of fun for those wishing to join us.

Come along on an expedition travelling the Captain Fawcett 4X4 track through the Lane Poole Reserve to the renowned Long Gully Bridge… We will have activities planned for the day as well as some new caches to be found along the way.

Camping at Nanga Mill Campsite, Lane Poole Reserve, Nanga (Approx 18 km's from Dwellingup)...For more details & camping fees at Nanga Mill, click HERE. Bookings do not apply to this campground although I have advised of our intentions & will be in further contact with the rangers closer to the weekend.

There is no phone reception out there, so please make sure to do your pocket queries before you leave… All caches along the track will be published by Wednesday Evening prior to allow for travellers to add them to there GPS before setting off.

The nearest fuel is at Dwellingup, although not too far please make sure you have enough fuel for the day. Some more exploring may be done on Sunday so keep this in mind when heading out, there are plenty of nearby caches around which you may like to do then...

The Captain Fawcett track is classed as 4WD only… It can be rough uneven terrain, boulders/rocks in the road. High ground clearance is needed. If it has recently rained, boggy mud puddles & washouts will also be encountered… All participants are responsible for their own actions & must adhere to road rules at all times. Anyone showing disregard for the road rules will be disqualified from the event.

This event is not speed based, nor will it be for those looking for numbers… It will take approximately 4 hours to reach the Long Gully Bridge (including stops along the way), where we plan to stop for lunch before heading back to camp.

So we hope to see you all there for a relaxing weekend… We will be camped from Friday - Sunday, so lookout for the Red Mitsubishi Triton or call us up on UHF Channel 15.
