Cressy Road starts at Pittwater Road in North Ryde, continues through the leafy suburb of East Ryde and finishes at Victoria Road in Ryde. Although it stretches for approximately 3km in a straight line, it is broken up into four sections. Formerly known as Carpenter's Lane, Cressy Road is named after a town in northern France (modern spelling is Crecy), near the Somme, where King Edward III won a victory over King Philip of Valois of France in 1346.
