The Timber Trail is a two day mountain bike ride through Pureora forest from Pureora Village to Ongarue, near Taumarunui. Total distance is 85km and the trail is graded 2-3 (Easy - Intermediate). Enjoy majestic native forest, spectacular suspension bridges built especially for the trail and the rich history of this region.
From Piropiro campsite it is a relatively easy ride through newly regenerating forest. From marker 42 you will climb steadily through tawa and tanekaha forest, before levelling out towards the Maramataha Bridge. This is the longest and highest suspension bridge on the trail at 141m long and 53m high. The photograph shows the view that you will get at the cache site. The cache is a 200 ml sistema container.
