Well it has taken too long but here it is, our first cache placement.
It is hidden in the beautiful Sunnyhurst Woods, an area quite close to our home. The woods were purchased by public subscription and were opened in 1903. They cover an area of 85 acres and have approximately 7 miles of footpaths.
There is a visitor centre which has limited opening hours, but quite often holds exhibitions of art and photography etc. nearby is also a kiosk which sells refreshments and light meals.
There are also several commemorative stones to local benefactors who paid for a bandstand and lychgate amongst other things. The paddling pool was created by the voluntary labour of several local men,
Limited parking is available about 100 metres past the Sunnyhurst Public House.
The cache is a 35 mm film canister. Please bring your own Pen/pencil and please try and replace as found.
The walk is quite easy, but the last 10 metres is fairly steep and can be slippery when wet. We hope that you enjoy your visit to this lovely area.
