This is the third in a series placed on the border of Loddon Shire.
Loddon Shire is located in northern Victoria. It is a predominantly agricultural region with a heritage of gold mining in its southern parts. Here, in the Lake Meran district the shire borders Gannawarra Shire to the north. The Leaghur State Park which conserves important black box woodlands and wetlands is immediately to the south. The park can be entered here from Forest Lane. The Boort-Kerang Road runs north to south along the Leaghur Fault, with flat flood plains to the east, rising to rolling mallee lands to the west. This is a productive wheat and sheep production area.
