(LT) Serijos „Aplink Lietuvą“ lobis Švenčionyse.
(EN) The cache in Švenčionys is a part of the series „Aplink Lietuvą“ ("Around the Lithuania").

(LT) Švenčionyse stačiatikių parapija įsteigta 1842 metais. Švenčionių Švč. Trejybės cerkvė pastatyta 1898 m. caro valdžios ir parapijiečių lėšomis. 1928 m. atliktas kapitalinis remontas. 1945 m. parapijoje buvo 158 tikintieji. Sovietų valdžia ją įregistravo 1947 m., tuo metu tebuvo 85 parapijiečiai. Cerkvė yra bizantiško-rusiško stiliaus, savo išvaizda ir išplanavimu analogiška Vilniaus Dievo Motinos ikonos „Ženklas iš dangaus“ cerkvei. Įėjimas veda per verandą su dekoruotu baldakimu, kurį vainikuoja kupolas ir ažūrinis kryžius. Virš prieangio yra varpinė, taip pat dengiama kupolo. Dar keturi kupolai yra virš cerkvės navos, su eilėmis pusapvalių dekoratyvių langų. Visa cerkvė dažyta baltai, dekoruota dangaus spalva. Vidaus interjeras - XX a. pirmos pusės.

(EN) An orthodox parish in Švenčionys was established in 1842. Švenčionys church of the Blessed Trinity was built by the parishians and by the tsarist government in 1828. The overhaul of the church was carried out in the 1928. In the 1945 158 people were listed as members of the parish. In the 1947 the church was registered by the soviet authorities with only 85 parishioners. The church is a Russo-Byzantine style, it's exterior and layout is similar to the Church Our Lady of the Sign in Vilnius.

The cache is a PET preform, containing a logbook and a pen. Please leave the cache as you found it.
