There are over 2 million geocaches worldwide. I've noticed that some of them are getting kind of lonely... because they haven't been found in a long time. Some of the reasons may be due to:
- Geographic location - is it in the middle of nowhere? Are there very few other caches in the area?
- Long hike - maybe some cachers don't want to go so far?
- Terrain - is it hidden amongst out-of-control thorns? Will you sink knee-deep in mud? Does it involve ridiculous bushwacking?
- Puzzle caches - is it too much of a head-scratcher?
- Is it really still there? (someone needs to check!)
Your mission is to find the lonely caches and log them. So put on your thinking caps, hiking boots, bug spray, geo-backpacks, and go find them!
There are two requirements for logging this challenge:
(1) find two caches that haven't been found in 6 months or more; and
(2) find one cache that hasn't been found in over one year.
Please complete the challenge prior to finding and logging this cache on-line. When logging your find on this page, simply put in your log the GC code of the caches you found, how long it went unfound and include a picture of the log book after you signed it (if possible).
I completed this challenge by finding the following caches:
Scary Blue Question Mark: Basic Training (GC1YM1N) - not found for over 9 months
Group W Bench (GC213WV) - not found for over 7 months
Why? (GC142CB) - not found for over 2 1/2 years
Probably the loneliest cache in the world is 4.5lb Walleye, which took over ten years for the first finder! (Bonus points for anyone who can find that!)
This cache is sandwiched between other caches where hopefully it will never be lonely.
This cache is certified Central Jersey!
