Geocache Description:

Juliette "Daisy" Gordon Low assembled 18 girls from Savannah, Georgia, on March 12, 1912, for a local Girl Scout meeting. She believed that all girls should be given the opportunity to develop physically, mentally, and spiritually. With the goal of bringing girls out of isolated home environments and into community service and the open air, Girl Scouts hiked, played basketball, went on camping trips, learned how to tell time by the stars, and studied first aid.

Within a few years, Daisy's dream for a girl-centered organization was realized. Today, Girl Scouts of the USA has a membership of over 3.2 million girls and adults, a significant growth from its modest beginnings nearly a century ago. In fact, more than 59 million women in the U.S. today are Girl Scout alumnae.

This cache is placed on behalf of and with the help of Troop #54350 as part of their Geocaching badge. The ZenB_Crew loves all kinds of scouting!!  This 30-Cal ammo can is hidden in what the crew feels is the most beautiful spot in the park.  The view from this general area is spectacular year-round and is worth visiting in all four seasons.  If you ever find yourself in need of a spot to meditate – seek out this cache.

To fully appreciate this cache, the Crew recommends that you start at the park office (coordinates provided).  There are closer parking spots – but this cache is about more than just the smiley! Remember, scouting is about getting out! D/T ratings are based on leaving the cachmobile at the park office.  Hiking trail maps are available at: http://www.alleghenycounty.us/parks/maps.aspx

5-5-14: HINT - if you approach from the direction of the park office, consider starting up hill well before your arrow bends clear right.

Please consider posting a picture for the troop!
