Tallest Tree? Traditional Cache
ottergirl_fcl: Checked on this today and it has gone. As there is now a lot less vegetation in the GZ location, I will archive. Thanks for all who did this over the last few years.

An easy cache hidden close to where the footpath from Barrow Hill sets off for the top of Chosen Hill. From near to this cache it is possible to see what could be one of the tallest trees in Churchdown; the Wellingtonia near the top of Brockworth Lane. You are looking for a small screw top tub in a camo bag. Please bring your own pen.
I found out about this tree from ‘Churchdown Tree Trail’ by the Tree Warden Peter Vielvoye. It is available from the Parish Council offices on Parton Rd or as a download (see link). This describes two circular routes around Churchdown village that guides you past some fantastic trees. There is information about many of the interesting trees you pass en route, many of which are subject to a Tree Preservation Order (TPO). The two routes can be linked together. When I followed this trail I was surprised at the diversity of trees growing in my neighbourhood. The village school alone has a Tulip Tree, a Walnut Tree and a Mirabelle Plum Tree growing in its grounds! This publication does suggest that the Wellingtonia visible from near the GZ may in fact be one of the tallest trees in Churchdown. This magnificent Wellingtonia is next to a Copper Beech at the top of Brockworth Lane. Both of these trees have TPOs.
Please be careful when approaching GZ from the village and especially if you go to get a better view of this tree, as this junction is VERY busy. Take care with geokids and geodogs.
The link to the download of the Churchdown Tree Trail is at the top of the cache page.
