Geocache Description:

This is the second cache on a walk of about 4.5 miles in beautiful Dartmoor countryside. This one will need a bit of agility! The route is fairly level with only 1 significant down and up between 1 and 8. No. 9 requires a bit more agility and to get to 10 you have to cross a stream and the terrain from then on until 12 is rough. A couple of the caches need a bit more agility than others!

This series of caches has been put out in memory of my Dad who sadly passed away suddenly in April. He always said to us 'Going Geo-nutcasing today then?' So I wanted to use this in the cache titles. Having placed a series near Bradworthy in North Devon where I grew up, I wanted to do one where I live now and have also spent a lot of time since he died. He also actually did find a cache with us in this area so thought it appropriate. So I hope you all enjoy going geo-nutcasing and finding this series of caches.

Legend has it that there is a phantom Dartmoor Pony that hangs around Haytor with its favourite spot being Saddle Tor! So when you are out looking for this cache you may hear galloping hooves getting nearer and louder, heading in your direction! If you hear them but can't see any horses and you feel a chill it probably just passed by!

Please ensure that you replace the cache in its correct position. Thank you.

The weather on Dartmoor can change suddenly and unexpectedly and ALL types of weather conditions can be experienced. Please ensure that you have the correct clothing and map and compass (and know how to use them). Please do NOT rely solely on your GPS. Finding the cache is done to your ability and at your own risk.

I would like to thank the Dartmoor National Park Authority for their kind permission to place this cache, which has been placed according to their geocaching guidelines.
