Geocache Description:

A Mystery Cache that replaces an archived Cache named "The Crossroads"

The Crossroads Cache is a Mystery Cache allowing me to share my love of Blues Music with Geocachers…

PLEASE NOTE THE ABOVE CO-ORDINATES ARE BOGUS.

Crossroads – “at the point where one must choose between different courses of action”

I have devised a series of questions all associated with a Blues theme and in particular a few of the artists I enjoy. All of the information required is readily available on the Web, a simple Google may be all that is needed, in other cases more thought may be required.

The first series of questions are based on a Blues artist, who Eric Clapton believed was “the most important blues musician who ever lived”. His songs were covered by the likes of The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Q1. Legend has it that he went down to the Crossroads and sold his soul to the Devil for music infamy. He was…
Q2. He died aged 27, (although his death certificate states his age at death as 26) on what date AB/C/1DE8

Some say it was the Crossroads in Rosedale Mississipi as Rosedale is mentioned in some of his lyrics. Others believe the Crossroads are near...

Q3. The City of Clarksdale Mississippi which is located at the intersection of Highway FG and Highway H1? – The Crossroads? The surrounding Delta region is widely believed to be the home of the Blues.

The second featured artist to give you clues was born near Clarksdale Mississippi and died on the 21st of June 2001 another influential Blues man,

Q4. His date of birth was 22nd August 19KL.

He has produced over 100 recordings including collaborative albums with the many musicians of the modern era. One such album was simply titled “The Best of Friends”. It included contributions by Van Morrison, Bonnie Raitt, Carlos Santana, Los Lobos, Robert Cray, Ry Cooder and George Thorogood.

Q5. Ry Cooder dubbed all guitar parts for Ralph Macchio in the movie roughly based on the legend of the Crossroads made in 19MN?

The third featured Bluesman can be determined using these questions…

Q6. My older brother Jimmy, a legendary blues guitarist, played guitar on track 5 of “The Best of Friends” album. I died in a Helicopter crash on 27th of August 1990. My name is …I was born on the 3rd of October 19PQ.

My guitar playing was self taught, I played entirely by ear and had never learnt to read sheet music. Part of my characteristic sound was due to the fact I played with “heavy” strings, typically ranging from 11 to 16 gauge sets.

Q7. My guitar a birthday present from my wife Lenora - named Lenny after her, was a 1965 Maple neck Fender Stratocaster with a Rosewood finger board. Lenny was originally purchased for my 26th Birthday in 1980 for $350. It was sold in 2004 as part of the Clapton Charity Guitar Auction, with proceeds benefiting the Crossroads Centre a drug rehab centre that began in Antigua. What did Lenny sell for $RST,UVW?
