Geocache Description:

Hi to all, and welcome to another Blacklegend cache.

I have decided to place a couple of mystery caches, this one and its sister cache, Astronomy 101.  This one is a very easy mystery, and just involves a bit of general knowlege about Astronomy and the Solar System.  Astronomy 101, the sister cache, is a little easier, but this one should not be too hard.....  Google is your friend here for sure.

Astronomy is my other big interest after Geocaching, although, I find that I have not been out with a telescope for a while, I will get back into that at some stage.

Ok, so here are the questions.....  You could even give the kids a crack at answering these questions.....

A =  The Solar System contains how many "Gas Giant" planets (Subtract 1 from the answer)?

B =  The speed of light is just under 300,000 kilometers per second, to be exact, Its value is exactly 299,792.458 kps.  How long does light take to reach the Earth from the Sun approximately?

25 seconds  =  5

8m 17s  =  3

About 15 mins  =  7

C = True or false.... The Sun, as far as Stars go, is very large?

True = 9

False = 5

X = Pluto, now called a Dwarf Planet, was once considered one of the major planets, and the 9th planet in the Solar System, until Astronomers started discovering more "Pluto like" objects in the outer Solar System.  What year was Pluto discovered?

1880 = 8

1901 = 2

1930 = 9

Y = Our Sun and entire Solar System reside in the Milky Way Galaxy.  What type of Galaxy is the Milky Way?

Eliptical = 1

Spiral = 0

Dwarf = 6

Z = Black Holes are amazing objects.  They have a mass, some very small, some huge.  It is believed that there is a supermassive Black Hole at the center of our galaxy, some interesting reading in itself.  With some very heavy stars that explode, some of their mass gets compressed in the core and turns into a black hole.  Bearing in mind that if even light gets to close, even at light's tremendous speed, it will still get sucked into a black hole, my question is, can an object, under the right conditions, orbit a black hole safely?

Yes = 2

No = 7

Hope you enjoyed this easy mystery cache.  At GZ, please put on some insect repellent.  I got cut to pieces by mosquitos placing the cache.
