this monument is to commemorate that the highway extension in service of Japan has reached 1,000 km.

「虎渓山」の山号を持つ永保寺は、ここから徒歩で15分で行くことが出来ます。
素晴らしい庭園と、国宝の建物が２つもある古刹です。
敷地内には、「高速道路1,000km開通碑」が建てられています。
この石碑は、1973年に虎渓山PA近辺が開通したことで、日本の高速道路供用延長が1,000kmに達したことを記念して建てられました。
このパーキングエリア内にキャッシュを設置しました。
