Geocache Description:

The third of the Oke Lanes caches.

The cache is near Fitz's cross and well. It is thought that the cross was placed here by two thankful travellers who were led astray by 'piskies' and could no longer find their way off the moor. At the point where the cross is found, the travellers drunk water from the spring, the fog lifted and they saw Okehampton below them. Everyone knows drinking water from a Dartmoor spring lifts a 'piskie' curse. devil However, others think that the well and cross are more likely linked to the Fitzford family from Tavistock. Sir John Fitzford was the Granddad of Lady Howard, the ghost of Okehampton castle.
