The posted coordinates are for the Camarillo Post Office. The cache is NOT in or next to the building. But, it is a good place to start to gather the necessary information. The cache is a park and grab within a short distance from the Post Office.
This cache series was originally developed by Maryland cacher MDSurveyor with the cache P.O. Box – Bel Air in April 2008. In 2011, fastflyer imported the concept to Southern California with P.O. Box - Thousand Oaks. Zdonb, foon, and monkeydogfish/chloboo soon followed suit with P.O. Box geocaches of their own in the Los Angeles area.
To date, MDSurveyor's bookmark list contains 106 P.O. Box caches around the world . We contacted him, and with his kind permission and help, are continuing the concept to include Camarillo, CA. This particular puzzle uses a slightly different counting method which was originated by monkeydogfish.
Most of the P.O. Box geocaches use a (Grid:Row:Column) system, from the original P.O. Box - Bel Air cache, to identify which P.O. boxes you need to find. Our puzzle is a little bit different. You still need to find several boxes, but rather than a Grid:Row:Column number we'll give you a starting box and then some directions to get to the box you're looking for.
North = Up, South = Down, West = Left, East = Right.
e.g. "start at 100, go South 1, East 1" would mean find box 100, and count one box down, and one box to the right to find the new number.
ABCD: start at 1884, go North 2, West 2
EFGH: start at 3467, go East 3, South 2
IJKL: start at 1209, go South 1, West 1
MNO: start at 351, go South 3, East 3
The final cache location is:
North EF° IM.NLK
West AGH° CJ.OBD
This P.O. Box lobby is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
