Geocache Description:

This cache takes you along a walkway around an expanding Karaka subdivision.

When walking to set this cache my son jumped down and walked along the beach as I walked the path. Prety quickly he said "hey dad! look what I found." He had found an old glass bottle as may have been used for medicines or the like a long time ago. It was half buried in the sand and tainted with age. I carefully (because of the muck) put it into a spare ziplock bag and into my pocket.

We continued along the path for around 500m or so when I decided to place the cache. See below for details.

On the return journey I hopped down to the beach as well and started to find things of my own. Bits of glass and pottery sticking out of the sand and mud had to be examined and between the many broken bits I found these great little pieces of history. For all I know they could be 2 weeks old... humour me.

So there lies the subject in the cache name. Excavation.

If you attempt this cache when the tide is showing some sand, please do walk along the beach and excavate whatever you can find.

then post pics of it!

Unfortunatly the little bottle from the story was lost by master 1. I should have known better than to let him hold it...

You are looking for a pill bottle at head height. Not on the path.

Cache contains log only so bring your own pen. I have not placed any waypoints as parking is currently easy along the nearest road. There is also parking at the end of each culdesac where the path meets the road. Where you walk from depends on how for you want to walk. expect at least 300m.
