32 Degrees South : 7 Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
Geocaching relies on accurate co-ordinates of latitude and longitude. The R61 between Cradock and Nieu Bethesda more or less follows the 32 South line of latitude and crosses it a number of times.
We thought it would be fun to place a series of caches on or as close to this imaginary line as possible so there will be twelve caches mostly along or near the R61 but some are on the N6, the N9 and the N10. This takes us to the limit of our caching area of maintenance so maybe other geocachers will place caches along this S32 line of latitude near to their homes. The R61 between Cradock and Queenstown is a scenic route giving the traveller a wonderful experience of the wide plains and flat topped koppies of the Karroo landscape. It also parallels closely with the S32 deg line of latitude and crosses it three times. We thought it would be fun to mark on the ground this otherwise invisible line and have placed three caches as close to S32 deg as possible to safely access. The caches are numbered starting from the Cradock side. There is also one on the N6 between Queenstown and Cathcart. This cache is located exactly on the S32 deg line of latitude within sight of the town of Tarkastad which has one coffee shop and one restaurant. You are looking for a camo pill box with room for trading.
