A walk along the railroad bed from Scoudouc will bring you to a spectacular view of the Scoudouc river and the old bridge footings far below.

Here is the story of the railbed and the footings

Shediac New Brunswick was once a railroad town but starting in the 1870’s the railroad shops were slowly moved to Moncton. The last of the old buildings were torn down around 1980 when the Superannuation Building was built.

All that is left of the railroad’s presence are the trails on the railroad bed and the old railroad station downtown. Passenger trains stopped at the station until the 1960’s on their way to Parlee Beach and Pointe du Chene.

When train service was terminated, the tracks were removed. For safety reasons, the railroad bridge not far from town over the Scoudouc River was also removed.

This cache will require a walk or bike ride along the abandonned railbed. A series of caches along the railroad bed leads to this cache.

Closest Available parking is where the trail crosses the Red Bridge Rd near this cache GC4QKRM
