At the north of Madeira Island, specifically in the village of Ilha – Santana, we can found a delicious traditional drink, specially for cold days . This is the "PONCHILHA", name given by the fusion of the name "Poncha" and the name of this place "Ilha" (island in english).
The Poncha (famous Madeiran regional drink) is made using the excellent local production of lemons and other traditional products of this place as honey and brandy.
The PONCHILHA is a delicious drink with a long standing tradition. By doing this cache, be sure you taste this typical drink of this beautiful place! We suggest a visit to the very friendly “Dona Dora” at her small traditional grocery store in front of the Church, where it serves a beautiful PONCHILHA homemade specialty!
