The nature reserve is located at an ancient quarry, which is flooded in the winter. This quarry hosts rare crustaceans and various amphibians.
Entering the water at this site is prohibited.
The nature reserve is located east of Highway 6, between Elad and Shoham, and 2 km east of Moshav Bareket. Use the road that branches off from Highway 444, east of Bareket Quarries, after about 1km on Highway 444. It's located 50m north of the reserve and 200m west of Highway 6. This road also serves as a northern access road to the industrial area of Modiin.
Those coming from Rosh Ha’ain should take Highway 444 pass the entrance to Elad, which is 2.4km north of Koakh hill intersection. Then continue straight on Highway 444, and after an additional 2.4km turn left at the intersection with traffic lights, and turn to where the sign point to the limestone quarries. From there you drive east, and after 850m you pass a plaza in the industrial area, which is currently under construction. Continue straight past the Bareket Pool Nature Reserve, under Highway 6, and immediately after crossing the road, but before the entrance gate to the quarry, turn north onto the steeply inclined paved road. After 300m you should reached the western edge of the reserve, and you drive to the road leading to Highway 465, near the Alexandroni monument.
Those coming from Shoham, the approach is on the road that branches off to the right from Highway 444, which is 700m north of the northern entrance to Shoham. We recommend also visiting the nearby Bareket Pool Nature Reserve. The Israel Trail passes near the park, on the other side of Highway 6. Access to the trail is possible through quarry road, which passes under Route 6.

מהצומח, גדלים כאן נורית המים, בצעוני מצוי, דמסון כוכבני ואצות חוטיות
בשטח הטרשי סביב השמורה גדלה צמחייה אופיינית לאזור, ובין היתר כתלה חריפה, סתוונית היורה, בן-חצב סתווני, עירית גדולה ודרדר גדול-פרחים

השמורה נמצאת ממזרח לכביש מס' 6 (חוצה ישראל), באזור שבין אלעד ושוהם (2 ק"מ מזרחית למושב ברקת)
כביש המסתעף מכביש מס' 444 מזרחה למחצבות ברקת, עובר (לאחר כק"מ נסיעה מכביש מס' 444), 50 מ' מצפון לשמורה, הנמצאת כ- 200 מ' מערבית לכביש מס' 6. הכביש משמש גם ככביש גישה צפוני לאזור התעשייה של חבל מודיעין
לבאים מכיוון ראש העין, יש לנסוע בכביש 444 ולעבור את הכניסה לאלעד. במרחק 2.4 ק"מ דרומה נמצאת צומת גבעת כ"ח. ממשיכים ישר בכביש 444, ולאחר 2.4 ק"מ נוספים פונים שמאלה בצומת מרומזרת בפנייה המשולטת למחצבות אבן וסיד
מכאן יש לנסוע ישר מזרחה. לאחר 850 מ' עוברים כיכר בתחום אזור תעשייה בהקמה. ממשיכים ישר וחולפים על פני שמורת בריכת ברקת. נעבור מתחת לכביש 6, ומייד לאחר חציית הכביש, לפני שער כניסה למחצבה, פנייה צפונה לדרך סלולה, המטפסת בתלילות ולאחר 300 מ' עוברת בצמוד וממערב לשמורה. המשך הדרך מוביל לכביש מס' 465, בסמוך לאנדרטת חטיבת אלכסנדרוני
לבאים מכיוון שוהם, הגישה היא בכביש המסתעף מכביש 444 ימינה, 700 מ' מצפון לצומת הכניסה הצפונית לשוהם
למבקרים באתר, מומלץ לבקר גם בשמורת בריכת ברקת הסמוכה
שביל ישראל עובר בקרבת השמורה, מעברו השני של כביש 6, אך הגישה אפשרית דרך כביש המחצבות העובר מתחת לכביש 6
