Património Arquitectónico
De frente para o Atlântico, com privilegiado olhar sobre a Serra da Boa Viagem, o edificio nasce num terreno de encosta. Idealizado pelo arquitecto Inácio Peres Fernandes, este modelar edificio foi inaugurado a 28 de Junho de 1953. Um terraço panorâmico e uma torre elegante fixaram a sua postura altiva ante o mar e a praia, que tantos poetas cantaram.
A Inauguração
Ás 13 horas do dia 28 de Junho, perante centenas de convidados, o governador civil de Coimbra e o então presidente da Câmara Municipal da Figueira da Foz, Álvaro Malafaia, procederam à inauguração com o corte da fita simbólica. Após demorada visita a todas as instalações, foi servido um lauto banquete. Houve brindes e usou da palavra Arménio Faria, administrador-delegado da Sociedade Figueira Praia, entre outros. Dias depois da inauguração, o jornal local “Notícias da Figueira” fazia referência ao momento e escrevia: “...Foi um acontecimento de relevo a inauguração desse melhoramento que muito valoriza não só a Figueira da Foz, como também de Portugal. (...) Difícil se torna descrever toda a beleza desse bloco de linhas arquitectónicas moderníssimas e de ambiente europeu, que majestoso se ergue em frente da Rainha das Praias Portuguesas, a dominar uma panorâmica que surpreende e encanta....” No hall, uma pintura mural, plena de dinâmica, transporta-nos à na-tureza: mar, rio, serra e vale. O sol encarrega-se de penetrar na paisagem. O desporto e a juventude estão presentes! Sobre a porta, duas sereias simbolizam a atracção do mar. Molina Sanchez foi o autor dessas pinturas, assim como do painel da Sala de Jantar representando as quatro estações do ano. No salão surge-nos (na parede direita) uma espécie de álbum de imagens ligadas à Figueira. A construção das velhas naus, o antigo mercado de peixe, as olarias de outrora e o espírito religioso dos pescadores, compõem igualmente a obra. Trata-se de um desenho forte, representativo, completado por outra composição, na mesma tonalidade e sabor, que embeleza a parede fronteira.

Facing the Atlantic, with a privileged look at the “Serra da Boa Viagem”, the building rises on a land slope. The Inauguration

" In the hall , a mural , full of dynamic , transports us to the nature : sea , river , mountains and valley. The sun is in charge to penetrate the landscape . The sport and youth are present ! Over the door , two mermaids symbolize the attraction of the sea. Molina Sanchez was the author of these paintings , as well as the Dining Room of the panel representing the four seasons. In the hall a kind of album images linked to Figueira . The construction of the old ships , the old fish market , the potteries of yore and religious spirit of the fishermen , also make up the work . It is a strong , representative drawing , completed by another composition , in the same tone and flavor that embellishes the boundary wall .
