Geocache Description:

In the Fall of 2013, little 'ernie' and 'grover' headed out to the northwest part of Beaudry Park to find The Boundary of Beaudry cache, placed by bergmannfamily. We parked at these parking coordinates (N 49° 52.649 W 097° 29.783) and headed out on our adventure.

We had no idea what we'd encounter along the way, nor how long it would take, nor whether or not "ernie's" little legs would make it the whole way. We had no agenda or timetable other than to get there whenever we did and enjoy ourselves along the way.

September is such a great time of the year to go geocaching. We had such a great bug-free time hiking and exploring this great trail. The leaves were changing colour, the weather was perfect, and the company was even better.

Both my son and I had a great day. We enjoyed our time together that afternoon so much, we gave The Boundary of Beaudry a favourite point, for the enchanting experience. I have since been back several times to hide these subsequent caches in the hopes that future cachers will have a similar expedition enjoying nature in one of Manitoba's wonderful provincial parks.

In 1974, Harry Chapin wrote a song about procrastination and missed opportunities. My prayer is that I always take advantage of spending time with my kids and create opportunities to do so as often as I can. Our hope is that future cachers can use these hides in this beautiful part of the forest to spend time with their friends and family as well.

Thanks to Beaudry Park, Harry Chapin, and bergmannfamily for the inspiration for this cache.

The cache is located in the relatively untraveled northwest part of Beaudry Park, along the Cottonwood Trail. On most days, you will be able to enjoy this entire part of the forest all by yourself, as it doesn't get many visitors.

Parking is located off Highway #1 (Portage Ave) at the posted waypoint. Another mud road slightly east would work as well. The roads are passable at times throughout the winter, but we would recommend you wait for park staff to clear them after big snowfalls and winter storms before attempting it.
Please do not block the gate with your vehicle.

You can access the Cottonwood Trail from the parking area by following the berm (but there are quite a few fallen trees to navigate) or else by crossing the small ditch and traveling along the east edge of the farmer's field (it's a flattened "trail" that leads directly into the park - it appears the park maintenance personnel access the trails this way).

In the winter, access is also available from the main (south) part of the park via the snowshoe trails (not the ski trails), using the maintained river crossing.

The cache is winter-friendly, just like the park.
In the winter months however, please do not walk, hike, or snowshoe along the groomed cross-country ski trails, as per park policy.

A provincial park pass is required year-round. A pass cannot be obtained onsite.

This cache placement has been approved by the District Park Supervisor.
