Ship Spotters #1 Noisy Tranquility
Please stick to the paths provided. Muggle factor is low with the occasional dog walker, kite surfer and hoon burning stolen cars at night.
This location, especially at the point of Point Henry, is a favourite of mine to capture shipping in the channel and ships berthed at the Alcoa Pier.
So if there are any ships about, then why not take a quick photo and post it here if you can :) Happy caching!
Named Point Henry in 1836 but known to the Aborigines as Maloppio, many pioneers landed in this area , and here Geelong began.
"Point Henry is a remarkable landscape. Industry co-existing with nature sitting side by side.
Through the construction of wetlands, revegetation and water quality management, Alcoa Point Henry have improved the integration of the smelters needs with those of the surrounding environment.
In the natural and constructed wetlands adjacent to the smelter, wildlife, some of it rare and endangered, is flourishing. Voluntary groups, neighbours, educational institutions and government play an important part in the maintenance and care of the Point Henry area."
