The dirt bike trails winded through the The Sand Pit and past the old corn field all the way down to the horse trail that went behind the Arcadian gardens "City of Glass" which used to be next to the athletic fields on Melville Rd. If you were really brave, you could ride all the way to the end of Round Swamp Rd!
I was told that in the sixties, the Spagnoli Road area was a wasteland of abandoned cars and smoldering garbage piles. People even brought their rifles there for target practice! Can’t picture that with all the businesses and industry that are there now.
Directions:
Option 1: Park at SUNY's golf driving range at: N 40° 45.495 W 073° 25.780 Now, walk north through the driving range then find an uphill path to your left, next to drainage ditch. At top, go left into woods on one of our trails
Option 2: Park behind a factory at: N 40° 45.635 W 073° 25.510, then cut through makeshift soccer field, up steep path, along northern edge of driving range & up steep trail next to drainage ditch.
