Geocache Description:

The cache is located on the grounds of the George R. Menkes, Sr. Memorial Nature Preserve, which is owned by the La Porte County Park Foundation (I am board president), and managed by the La Porte County Parks Department.  It is 16 acres of some of the most pristine and beautiful ground in La Porte County.    Parking is just along the side of the road, so be careful. The property extends along both sides of the road.

George R. Menkes, Jr. (Randy) was a good friend of mine and he passed much too soon. The family spent a lot of time on this property and loved it. They donated the land to the foundation so that it would be protected and preserved. The creek is a part of the Galena Watershed and flows into the Galena River then into the Galien River and eventually into Lake Michigan at New Buffalo. The property harbors lots of unusual and rare plants, so walk lightly and carefully. Much of the property is wet all year long. There are no trails.

The cache is hidden in a usual hidey-hole at ground level.   Cache is a tupperware container.   Heavy snow may make this more difficult to find.   Enjoy the hunt.
