The track follows John McDouall Stuart's route through the MacDonnell Ranges. His explorations between 1860 and 1862 opened Central Australia to white settlement in the 1870's.
Birthday Waterhole is the trail head of Section 4 of the Larapinta Trail, can often be a crowded little camp ground.
If you choose to camp, please take you rubbish with and do not bury your toilet paper, burn it or take it with you. There is nothing worse than arriving a a beautiful spot and finding toilet paper scattered.
The cache is a round tin with goodies and of course a log book and pencil.
