A short trail of approximately 3.5 km that will take you from Willoughby-on-the-Wolds to Hades (Lane) and back via Occupation Lane. The trail is entirely along public footpaths, bridleways and green lanes. The terrain in generally level, involving walking on footpaths across pasture fields with gently inclined slopes. The trail can be very muddy in places, especially after rain so appropriate footwear is advised
A short series of seven geocaches have been placed along this trail on the Nottinghamshire-Leicestershire border. This cache is a novelty disguised cache. Along the route you will see a fine example of ancient "Ridge and Furrow" field patterns dating back to Medieval or possibly even Saxon times. The pattern has been produced by ploughing with non-reversible single blade ploughs, drawn by oxen or horses. Leicestershire has some of the best preserved examples of "Ridge and Furrow" field markings. These ancient structures are generally lost when fields have been ploughed up by modern farming techniques, and their preservation here indicates that these fields have been used only as pasture land for grazing since Medieval times

DOGS CAN BE TAKEN ON THIS TRAIL BUT PLEASE KEEP THEM ON A LEAD SO AS NOT TO CAUSE DISTURBANCE TO ANY LIVESTOCK IN THE FIELDS
The cache contains only a log-sheet. So you will need to bring your own pen to sign. Tweezers will also be helpful to retrieve the log sheet from the cache container
Please be careful of the thorns nearby
Please handle with care and replace exactly as you find it. Please also be respectful of the environment and not to damage either the cache or the hiding place.
