Geocache Description:

This cache is located just west of the White Trail. It was placed for Cacheapalooza 8. Cache placement approved by park biologist Rob Rossmanith and park manager Mark Nelson. Do not speed. Do not block gates. All wheels off the pavement. Do not cross the railroad except on the park road.

  • Loved horses and wanted to be assigned to the cavalry, but was instead assigned to be a quartermaster.
  • General-in-Chief of the US Army (1864-1869)
  • Republican. 18th President of the United States (1869-1877). Nearly nominated for a third term in 1880.
  • Immensely popular in his lifetime despite a presidency marred by corrupt subordinates and the Panic of 1873.
  • Wrote his memoirs while dying of throat cancer.
  • Buried in General Grant National Memorial, Upper Manhattan, New York (aka Grant's Tomb).
