Date Masamune from Tokugawa Ieyasu, was asked from where to attack the Edo Castle seems to have pointed to the Ochanomizu. Large construction and outer moat Kanda mountain at the time of the second generation Shogun Hidetada is performed, Sendai clan was responsible for construction between Ochanomizu from Aqueduct. この日本橋川は江戸の初期には平川と呼ばれ、外堀の北から南東へ流れ日本橋を経て隅田川へと流れ込んでいた外堀の一部でした。
徳川家康から、江戸城をどこから攻めるか問われた伊達政宗はお茶の水を指差したそうです。2代将軍秀忠の時に神田山を外堀とする大工事が行われ、水道橋からお茶の水にかけて仙台藩が施工を担当しました。 このため、「仙台堀」や「伊達堀」と呼ばれるようになりました。その後、外堀は現在の神田側に移りました。
現在この辺りは堀の面影はまったくなく、再開発により全く新しい町に生まれ変わっています。
このi-Gardenはデートスポットとして使えそうなホテル、レストラン街があります。これからクリスマスのシーズンはイルミネーションで彩られることでしょう。
