Zebras are gone... Boo! Just off the Blue trail. Rooty and rocky and leafy oh my. Wear ORANGE during hunting season. Parking is near the end of Summit Wood Drive or on Orchard but you may need AWD - room for one car or a couple if you are together. This part of the Blue does not see a lot of use. Some interesting features here - mini bridge, maze gate, big rotten trees....
This cache is just off of the first/last leg of the Metacomet Trail - a 62.7-mile Blue-Blazed hiking trail that traverses the Metacomet Ridge of central Connecticut and is a part of the newly designated 'New England National Scenic Trail'. The Metacomet Trail passes through land located within the following incorporated towns, from south to north: Berlin, Meriden, Southington, New Britain, Plainville,Farmington, West Hartford, Avon, Bloomfield, Simsbury, East Granby, and Suffield, Connecticut. The Metacomet Trail extends from the Connecticut/ Massachusetts border south through Hartford and northern New Haven counties in Connecticut. The southern terminus of the trail is located just east of the Hanging Hills on U.S. Route 5, 4 miles north of the city of Meriden, in the town of Berlin, Connecticut; the northern terminus is located in the hamlet of Rising Corner, part of Suffield, Connecticut.
