HMAS #53: WALLAROO Traditional Cache

Information about this Series
The HMAS cache series has been created by Cankid and Delta Response Team to celebrate the 2013 fleet review and this is 53 of 101 caches. The series features 53 ships, 11 bases, 20 knighted seamen, 5 engagements and 1 cache about the RAN. There are also 9 puzzles for each section of the series, with one final cache. There is also one extra for the enthusiasts out there. The series can be done in a day and is best done in order. The best mode of transport in doing this series is bike.
The Location
The series is located just off Coppins Crossing road and continues through an area quite close to the arboretum. Park at the parking coordinates as provided in the first cache and continue from there. Please show caution and do not obscure the gate. This series will take almost all day so plan ahead, take water and snacks for the trip. As said previously, it is best done by bike. Most of the caches are on fire trails but there are some where you will have to go off track to find them.
This cache
Bandicoot and Wallaroo were initially built by Mipe Shipbuilding for Singaporean company Maritime (PTE) Ltd. as the tugboats Grenville VII and Grenville V, and entered service in 1982. The two tugboats were purchased by the RAN for the Craft of Opportunity Program (COOP) on 3 and 8 August 1990, and were delivered on 11 August 1990. The tugboats underwent conversion to serve as auxiliary minesweepers, with modifications completed by mid-1991.
Each vessel displaces 412 tonnes at full load, is 29.6 metres (97 ft) in length, has a beam of 8.5 metres (28 ft), and a draught of 3.4 metres (11 ft). Propulsion machinery consists of two Stork Werkspoor diesel engines, each connected to a propeller shaft. Maximum speed is 11 knots (20 km/h; 13 mph), and range is 6,300 nautical miles (11,700 km; 7,200 mi) at 10 knots (19 km/h; 12 mph). They are equipped with a Furuno 7040D I-band navigational radar. The ships initially had a towing capacity rated at a bollard pull of 30 tons, but this was removed during the COOP conversion. Ten to twelve personnel are required to operate each ship.
