I was considered to be a humble person, who lived a simple life.
I enjoyed mathematics and physics and was a top student, excelling at school. When young I trained as a gymnast. I was unable to further my education in my homeland because of my gender although I did attend a teaching institution that held classes at night, in secret, to avoid detection from the authorities.
I took on work as a governess while I continued my own education by spending many hours reading books in a variety of subjects.
I was able to save enough money to leave my country of birth to study at the Sorbonne, although I had very little to live on so was often cold and hungry and sometimes fainted due to lack of food.
I was married in a civil union and we worked together for many years. On a visit to London my husband had to deliver a speech on my behalf about some of my discoveries and published findings as females were banned from speaking in public.
I had two children but sadly was widowed when the children were young. I never remarried.
I have won Nobel Prizes, held university positions previously denied to women and overcome many barriers to be a pioneer and leader in my chosen field. I deliberately chose not to patent my findings so that others could continue further research to benefit everyone.
I was instrumental in inventing a way of providing mobile medical equipment during a time of war. More than one million patients were assessed by this innovation during the war.
I have been received at the White House. Like me, one of my children and their partner were Nobel Prize winners.
Although I was born in Poland my remains are entombed in a well known mausoleum in Paris. My name and image can be found on institutions, museums, statues, a railway station, an asteroid, postage stamps and bank notes.

Due to its location and the potential for it to be muggled, it is appreciated if you would not seek this hide out when it is dark, as the use of torches has the potential to give the hiding spot away. Many thanks.
