Geocache Description:

I drive quite regularly to Galway and used the N6 before the motorway opened. I looked at the Discovery Series map of the area (number 36) and saw a memorial marked here so stopped off one day for a look. I was amazed at what I found and want others to see it. You're looking for a camouflaged tube. I won't tell you where it is but it's near the base of the memorial.

"PRAY FOR THE SOULS OF JOHN LYNCH FITZ GEFFREY FITZ DOMNICK OF GALWAY LATE OF LAVALLY MARY LYNCH FITZ WILLIAM FITZ ANDREW HIS WIFE HIS SON THOMAS LYNCH FITZ JOHN OF GALLWAY LATE OF LAVALLY HIS WIFE ELLINOR MARION FITZ THOMAS OF GUALE AND ANN JOYES FITZ ANDREW AND THEIR POSTERITY 1712" I think this is what the memorial says. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. It is in remarkably good condition for its age. I wonder who they were and what happened to them. There was a megalithic tomb in the field by the memorial however it looks like it has been ploughed out. BYOP!
