Well, I did it, created the first stash hunt stash and here are
the coordinates:

W122 24.800
Lots of goodies for the finders. Look for a black plastic bucket
buried most of the way in the ground. Take some stuff, leave
some stuff! Record it all in the log book. Have Fun!
Stash contians: Delorme Topo USA software, videos, books, food,
money, and a slingshot!
With that brief post, the game was afoot. As days passed, more "stashers" hid their treasure around the world for others to find. As the years past the game grew into millions hidden of varying types and events emerged (like this one!) for Geocachers to get together, visit, share experiences and form groups for future expeditions.
The event is set for January 9th, 2014, from 7:00 PM to 8:23 PM (5000 seconds!!!) at T.A.N. Coffee in Greenwood, NS. Come in, grab a hot drink, and help celebrate the 5000th day!!!
