Mistletoe is a parasitic plant that lives off the nutrients of a host plant. Here in Australia there are approximately 90 different types of mistletoe. Alot of them are specific only to some species of host plants, such as eucalypts. There is a bird, surprisingly called the mistletoe bird that helps spread the sticky seeds of the parasitic plant. This bird eats the seeds and passes them out onto branches of other trees, the seed then sends out a tendricle into the plumbing system of the host plant, whereby it gets its nutrients. The mistletoe is native to Australia and although is discribed as a parasite it is not all bad, as it often blooms in times of drought providing nectar for many other birds and insects. The cache is a camo, film sized container, no room for swaps and bring your own pen. And keep an eye out for examples of mistletoe as there are a lot around this site.
