Geocache Description:

The coordinates listed above are for the check-in point which will be in the Interpretive Building (IB) at The Wilderness Center in Wilmot, OH.

We will be using the Buckeye Room located on the second floor of the IB again this year.

This year we are asking our fellow cachers to donate non-perishable food items or supplies to be given to a local food pantry.

BUCKEYE ROOM: Enter the IB through the main doors, go up the steps and the Buckeye Room will be on your left at the top of the steps. There is also an elevator located in the lobby for handicap access to the room.

WHEN: Saturday, February 1, 2014. Check in begins at 5:30 but no one on trails until 6PM. We ask that cachers be off the trails by 9:00PM.

WHERE: The Wilderness Center 9877 Alabama Avenue Wilmot, OH 44689

WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING: A GPS unit, flashlight, pen/pencil, extra batteries for gps and flashlight

OTHER IMPORTANT INFO: Dress for the weather…snowy, muddy and/or icy trails. Children are welcome but anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult while on trails.

SORRY BUT ABSOLUTLEY NO PETS, ALCOHOL OR FIREARMS AT THIS EVENT!

No reservations or fees required. No trade items neede. Hot chocolate and coffee will be provided. Donations of cookies/brownies to share are welcome! There will be a 50/50 drawing to help cover expenses. We will be placing at least 40+ temp caches for this event! There will be caches of all sizes and shapes and different difficulty levels…something for everyone. You may even spot a groundhog looking for his shadow! Find one or find them all….up to you. Log the temps or not…up to you! We will have experienced cachers on hand to assist any new cachers so all are welcome!

Due to the large amount of caches, we will have laptops and operators available to load the cords to your gps (if your gps using a special cable, please bring it with you). Like last year, we will be posting the cords for all the temps the Wednesday before the event. Click here to download.

When you are done caching and hiking the trails, feel free to come back to the IB and join us for refreshments and lots of geochatting! There are now 9 permanent caches on the trails and this will be your only chance for night caching on these trails. The Wilderness Center is patrolled regularly by the Stark County Sheriff.

Again this year, if the weather cooperates, we hope members of the Astronomy Club will open the observatory and set up telescopes for all who wish to observe the winter sky.
