First of all, this was previously a two-stage cache. Stage one has gone missing, so I am deleting that stage and sending you directly to the final location. The new coordinates are N40 33.965 W112 05.336. I have remade, yet again (this is the sixth time, now, I believe) this amazng, awesome cache! Full of all kinds of cool Choo Choo stuff. I am including a new FTF prize and several TBs'. Lots of room in this one for swag and more trackables. This is not a park 'n grab. This cache has been created with the intent you will take the time to read the historical information included. The antique lunchbox is a special bonus. It is NOT FOR TRADE. It is also delicate so please handle with care! I hope every one will enjoy it. Some favorite points would make my day! As this cache is both expensive and time-consuming to createl, let me stress the importance of stealth and rehiding this cache well.
This is another in a series of 3 historic caches I am placing to honor the history of Old Bingham Canyon. In case you are interested, the other two are Old Bingham City Cemetery and Old Bingham High School; Days of Glory. This one is to honor the Bingham Railroad and the railroaders that serviced the mines. Included is a recipe for an authentic miner's lunch, which I acquired from a man who emigrated from the Coal Mines of Wales to the Silver Mines of Park City, and ended up in the Copper Mine at Bingham City. This recipe is hardy, and really good!!! I hope you'll try it out at home. If you do, think about the miners who have eaten this same fare for centuries.
There are historical documents in this cache. I really hope you take time to go through them, as that is the purpose of this cache. I found photos and very interesting information which are included for your enjoyment. If you're a history or mining or railroad buff, I think you will like this cache.
En route, coming up Old Bingham Highway, you can see where some of the old RR track bed used to be. There are still old RR tracks and signs to be seen along the bed. All the trains are silent now, vanished with the miners of yore; gone, but not forgotten.
The day the first train pulled into Bingham, everyone stopped what they were doing and held a celebration. People sold tickets to people to sit on their porches in the shade and little boys climbed trees to watch as the train came in. The town band played. The principal of the school dismissed his students for the event, then went a step further and purchased "porch tickets" for every one of them, stating he wanted them to witness firsthand "history in the making". As the mine trains were required to travel some pretty steep grades, you can perhaps imagine the chaos the day one train actually derailed and came crashing down through the middle of Bingham City!! It took out several buildings, but, amazingly, no one was killed. Please take precautions to keep final cache safe from muggles. As you approach coords, watch for cars in both directions. Try to wait until there are none. If some come along, don't let them see what you are up to. They WILL come back and investigate. This I have learned the hard way. When you find the final cache, please take it back to your car or a place you will not be observed to open and look through it. I have had to replace this cache four times now due to theft. This time I attempted a disguise to make it look like trash so a muggle would never notice it. I hope it works. Please replace as you found it. Please report any maintenance issues with me. Let me know if you take the last whistle so I can restock them. There's some room for swag and TBs. First 2 Finders get a tiny but very cool prize! Every one gets a free giveaway! Letterboxers, I hope you like the stamp. I look forward to trading impressions with you. STAMP IS NOT FOR TRADE! Well, folks, I hope you enjoy this cache. Your thank you for my effort is the log you write, so please take a moment and write more than just " TFTC" I enjoy reading your comments very much. A fav point makes my day! Enjoy! madambutterfly1822
