Geocache Description:

Ashiestiel was once the home of Sir Walter Scott before he moved to nearby Abbotsford, and it is said that he would never have left if he had been able to buy the property. Many of his famous poems were written there, including The Lay of the Last Minstrel and Marmion. Indeed JMW Turner, a great friend of Scott, painted Ashiestiel House as the frontispiece for Marmion.
