In 1879 the first settlers came to Orchard Prairie. This area was covered with lush grasslands, huge pine and fir trees. The soil was rich and black and the lower portions of the area were filled with creeks and springs. Abundant amounts of wildlife provided ample hunting opportunities for these new settlers. Only one woman accompanied these early settlers, Mrs. Margaret E Doak, the wife of Thomas J Doak. Some of their descendents are buried here along with some other names you may recognize from the surrounding area. Doak Road is still one of the roads leading to Orchard Prairie today.
Cache is located on the outside of the cemetery. Please do not disturb the landscaping and replace the hide as you found it. You may go inside and look around, just remember to latch the gate you came through when you are done. Enjoy and good luck.
** Congratulations to J of Martin5 for being First-To-Find! **
