A Martyr Remembered Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

StridentUK: A long time since I did any geocaching, so archiving all these caches. Perhaps I'll have a go at it again this year. Thanks to everyone who has looked for (and helped look after) this and other caches.

Geocache Description:

The cache has been placed near a memorial that will be familiar to many of those who have travelled into Chester through Boughton. The granite obelisk dates from 1888 and is dedicated to the memory of the martyr George Marsh who was burned at the stake in 1555 for his Protestant beliefs.

You are looking for a black magnetic nano. The cache is by a busy road and bus stop but careful retrieval and replacement by touch should be possible at most times. Although the pavement is wide here, please be mindful of the traffic especially if caching with geokids or geohounds. There is (30 minute stay) on-road parking outside many of the nearby shops and the cache could also be attempted as a short walk from Chester City centre.

From GZ you will also have a good view of the Earl's Eye, where the River Dee bends around the meadows as it makes its way into Chester.

Congratulations to Reallysquare and Wilderness-Girl on the FTF.
