There are no waypoints for this one, you will need to build your own…
This cache is based upon RGS’ multi cache Waypoints R Us. Although most of the locations are different from the original, the concept is the same. At each location you will have to build a waypoint. Once you have located A, B, & C, follow the instructions to find the cache. All headings/bearings are in true north and distances are in feet.
For each of the waypoints and cache it is recommended to maintain a wide search area. A compass and orienteering skills will be helpful as well. Note, some GPS units do not show precise distances in feet after .1 miles, it may be helpful to convert to meters.
Waypoint A - The posted coordinates will bring you to the parking area. Walk into the woods and locate a wooden pavilion. Make this Waypoint A.
Waypoint B - From the end of the pavilion (facing North), you will see the trail off to your left. Follow the trail North down into the valley at a bearing of 18 degrees. A little ways down the trail you will come to a bench. When you have found this you are getting close. Continue to follow your compass at the same bearing for approximately 280 feet. You are looking for a large downed tree with the roots sticking out. You may find several small reflectors nearby. From the base of the tree, write down the latitude for this WP - N38 ___._____. Now round the decimal minutes to an even 100 to eliminate GPS errors. (IE. N38 33.228 would round to N38 33.200, or 150-249 rounds to 200) If there is confusion here, the first position after rounding is an EVEN number (000, 200, 400, 600, or 800). Take these last 3 digits and add 294. We will call this number X. X + 294 =_______.
Waypoint C - You will now proceed to bushwhack through the woods and up the hill following your compass on a bearing of 123 degrees for approximately 900 feet. Follow this course over the hill until you come to a trail. When you come across a well defined trail you are at the correct location. You are looking for three wooden stumps nearby (you may have to search a little for them). The stumps are approximately 2-3 feet high with reflectors on the back of each of them. The three stumps roughly form the shape of a triangle. Make the middle point of these 3 stumps waypoint C. Write down the Longitude for this WP - W90 ___._____. Now round the decimal minutes to an even 100, as above. This is also an EVEN number (000, 200, 400, 600, or 800). We will call this number Y. Y =_______.
Cache - From Waypoint C, project a bearing (in degrees) and distance (in feet) to Waypoint A and proceed down the trail in that direction. When you arrive at a point that is Y feet from waypoint A, change your bearing/heading to X degrees and proceed to the cache, approximately (Y - X) + 87 feet away. The cache is a dark green nalgene bottle hidden low.

NOTICE: Please be respectful of the posted park hours. If you enter the park after hours you are trespassing. If you are stopped you can be ticketed or arrested and will put the future of geocaching in the parks in jeopardy. Special permission to hide caches in St. Louis County parks is NOT needed as long as the Groundspeak rules are followed. "Blanket Permission" has been worked out in advance with the park service. DO NOT CALL THE PARK as they cannot handle the calls. The Groundspeak cache reviewer does need to know exactly how and where the caches are hidden and what type of containers are used. The geocaching liaisons will notify the park service of new caches. Remember NO AMMO BOXES or PVC PIPE caches.
