The Texas Spirit Quest
is a series of Caches placed by many individuals, near cemeteries and historic sites in hopes of paying respect to the many pioneer ancestors that have ‘walked’ before us.
There are hundreds of cemeteries in the rural communities across Texas. This series will introduce you to many of them. The cache pages will provide a virtual history tour of the cemeteries, tombstones and local lore.
The cache is NOT directly at the cemetery!
Also known as the Dixon-Hooper Cemetery, this site is to be found some distance beyond the gate by which the cache is hidden. Please DO NOT attempt to visit the site--access has to be arranged with the property owner. There are 35 interments here at what appears to be a standard Anglo graveyard, with dates ranging from 1884 to 2007. Members of the Dixon family are laid to rest here, with a mixture of others, including one individual identified only by initials, for whom no dates are known.
