This Series of caches will follow the former track bed of the G.R. G.H. & M. Electric railway with stops at former depots and other remnants of this great part of West Michigan history.
Muskegon
Muskegon was the final stop on the main route of the interurban journey northbound from Grand Rapids or Grand Haven. The main line coming from Fruitport was built somewhat parallel to the Chicago and West Michigan Railroad (later Pere Marquette). This continued until the station at Muskegon Heights where the interurban hooked up with a portion of the already completed Muskegon Street Railway. The Street railway ran along the center of Sanford Ave. It continued north along Sanford until running in a NW direction on Jefferson. It then reached Washington and would have gone west to reach the station. The station was located at the SW corner of Western and 7th. Below is a photo of the station at Muskegon.

Another interesting part of the interurban in Muskegon is the docks. After stopping at the station the interurban continued to the shores of Muskegon Lake. The interurban didn't just carry passengers, they also carried some freight. The interurban would stop at the docks and drop off freight for it to be shipped to other growing port towns. Below is a photo of the interurban docks.

The cache is located at the former site of the interurban freight docks. There is potential for this to be a high muggle area so please use stealth. Please be careful and watch the micro cachers as this is near
ENJOY!!!!
