Geocache Description:

Current maps of the area around Harcarsehill farm show a wind pump standing in a field to the south of the farmsteading. Wind pumps are usually made from steel, and consist of a bladed vane set at the top of a tall frame. Most date from the early twentieth century, and they were once a common sight in the countryside of southern Scotland. Many were used to pump water to the farmsteading for domestic or agricultural use.
