Parcul "1 Mai" din Fagaras se numea "Regina Maria".
Propunerea de schimbare a denumirii a fost făcută în scopul respectării adevăratului istoric, cât şi a unei reparaţii morale impuse de evidenţa istorică, Regina Maria fiind una din cele mai importante regine ale Europei în perioada existenţei sale. Se cunoaşte faptul că în perioada 22 mai – 2 iunie 1919, cuplul regal Ferdinand şi Maria a făcut întâia vizită în Transilvania, iar în itinerariul parcurs s-a înscris şi vizita la Făgăraş, în iunie 1919. Această vizită i-a determinat pe edilii Făgăraşului de la acea vreme să denumească parcul cu numele Reginei Maria. În toată perioada interbelică şi până la instaurarea puterii comuniste, acel parc s-a numit „Regina Maria“.

The proposal to change the name was made in order to comply with the true history and a moral reparations imposed by historical evidence, Queen Mary is one of the most important queens of Europe during its existence. It is known that during the period 22 May to 2 June 1919, the royal couple Ferdinand and Maria made the first visit to Transylvania, and visit Fagaras in June 1919. This visit prompted Fagaras town officials at the time to name the name of Queen Mary Park. Throughout the interwar period and until the establishment of communist power, that park was named "Queen Mary".
