Geocache Description:

Part 1 of 3 of a small series in Queen's Park.

Queen's Park in Moonee Ponds is a mix of exotic and native plants and trees around a natural small lake. The lake was used as a watering point by people for millenia, including Burke and Wills as they headed out of Melbourne. There is an art installation with camels also on the north end of the park dedicated to them, but you're headed more to the lake shore.

To get here, take the 59 tram from the city and hop off at the Queen's Park stop, just after Moonee Ponds Junction. The Craigieburn train will also take you to Moonee Ponds, though it's a short walk across the shopping district to the park. For cars, there may be parking on the street or in parking lots along Mount Alexander Rd. There is a cafe in the park, and a swimming pool if it's warm. Please don't swim in the lake. It's icky.

The cache is in a small specimen container that is very well camoflaged. Please BYO writing utensil, possibly tweezers to aid your log retrieval (for those of you who have found Queen's Park #3, it is the same size and shape container). There is no room for swaps. Stealth is a must, as the hide is just off the path and there is no good coverage. PLEASE PUT IT BACK EXACTLY AS YOU FOUND IT. Please. Please please. This cache has disappeared twice in five months.
