A father is someone you look up to no matter how tall you grow… And the best fathers get promoted to grandfathers.
This series “I Look Up To You” is dedicated to our Dad & Pop-Pop! He has always served as a role model to all of us and now to our children. Our memories with him have inspired the placements of each cache! We hope you enjoy this series as much as we have enjoyed hiding these caches in honor of WoodenNickel4U!
*In the log book of each of these caches, you will find the hint for the Bonus- Mystery Cache #6! The log book for We Look Up To You #2 does not currently contain the hint so it has been encrypted within the hint for this cache.
This cache is located at a natural spring in Stony Point which also serves as a memorial to our Veterans. When we were younger we used to march in the Memorial Day parade with the VFW and this location was a stop along the parade route. While stopped here the older men would shoot off their weapons to honor those serving our country past and present. My brothers and I would be tasked with picking up the shells as they hit the ground. We always had such a great time!
Just south of here is a newly created “Memorial Park” in Stony Point. This site holds great meaning and memories for WoodenNickel4U and our family. Our eldest brother, Brian, is remembered with his name adorning the clock in the center of the park.
Also at this park is a monument memorializing the soldiers that have fought for our freedom. WoodenNickel4U is a proud member of the “Sons of the American Revolution,” a group that worked to place this monument in honor of America’s veterans. Listed on the monument is Jacob Lent, an ascendant of our dad, who was a solider in the Revolutionary War. Jacob Lent is buried in a cemetery in Tomkins Cove, which is maintained by our family- and is also the location of WoodenNickel4U’s cache “Grandpa.”
