Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Wildlife & Travel Bug Sanctuary! It is both a Geocache and a Letterbox. Please only search for this cache between the hours of 7 am and 9 pm. The Sanctuary is winter friendly and kid friendly- but kids may need a little adult help. It can be found either with a gps using coordinates, or with a compass using projection (see below).

“How do I know I am in the right place?” The cache is on private property and the owners welcome your visit but, of course, you are expected to be on your best behavior. Ground zero is in a front yard and will appear as a green Bat-House with a sign describing what Geocaching is all about.

The Sanctuary is a combination of a field puzzle, a travel bug hotel, and role playing with a photo opportunity- remember to attach a photo with your log. We hope you will have as much fun finding it as we did making it! Both the Bat-House Puzzle and the Wooden Bench were custom made by Love to Hike!

To find the cache as a Letterbox (projection): First, travel to Lallier Park in Fond du Lac. Then, go to the street intersection of National Avenue and Glenwood Drive. Next, find the light pole with National and Glenwood street signs on it. Finally, from that pole go 500 feet at a heading of 197 degrees to the cache.
To find the geocache using a gps: simply go to the posted coordinates.

“I have arrived at ground zero, how do I find the geocache and logbook?” The cache is NOT in or on the Little Free Library. This cache has two steps or stages. Now hold your breath, cross your eyes, and whistle Old MacDonald had a Farm… just kidding! To gain access to the Sanctuary: Begin at the green Bat-House and open the door over the slot. Then use the attached tool to extract the container inside: use patience and "feel" your way to the end. The hint in the container describes the Final Cache and how to open it. Fold the hint in half and place into the container and screw the cover on tightly, please. Replace the container into the slot on the Bat-House and close the door. Next go to the Final Cache: it is easy to find and located at the exact same coordinates.
Remember that Geocaching rules state you must sign the logbook; and all trades for swag must be with items of equal or greater value. Don’t forget to make use of the Wildlife Costumes for taking photos to add to your log.

The final cache holds separate containers to keep things organized, please replace everything neatly and where it belongs:
One container has the Logbook and Trade-able Swag.
Another container holds the Letterbox Stamps & Ink (bring your own ink Oct. to May). It also provides Wildlife Costumes to dress up your gps, phone, tablet, camera, etc and a Mini Stage to stand them up for a photo opportunity.
The third container holds Travel Bugs and GeoCoins, with drawers to keep them all easily accessible.
4-26-2105: Added a Container Swap. Take a container or leave a container, because more caches equals more happiness!

Everyone is encouraged to post pictures with your log: of your devices in costume (see example photo) or of your team at ground zero. The record, during testing, for extracting the container out of the Bat-House was 4 minutes- 30 seconds, can you beat that time? If you wish, include in your log the time it took the first person in your party to solve the Bat-House.

Sorry the Wildlife Costumes, Mini Stage, and our familiar Frog are NOT trade-able and are part of the cache itself. We thank you for respecting the cache, its contents, and all aspects of a personal residence on private property.

We own travel bugs ourselves and understand the time, effort, and dollars put into them. Please keep in mind that this cache and the travel bugs/ geocoins it contains are under close eye and are regularly monitored. If you do not have any travel bugs to trade, please only take one. Even up trades are welcome.
Feel free to write down any information about the cache for easy access on your many return visits to exchange bugs and coins; but please do NOT give out this info to others, thanks.

Permission to place this cache is given by the property owners: they ask that you only search for this cache between the hours of 7 am and 9 pm. If you wish, visit the custom made Little Free Library located nearby which contains many books for all ages.

Left a gift for the First to Find and Happy Holidays to all!
Congrats to Berkley Bear for FTF!
