St. John's Church was built in 1835, John H. Jones offered to sell 3/4 acre of land for $300 with the stipulation that, "No other building than a church be built on this beautiful pond." If you walk up the path behind the church, you will find St. John's Pond Preserve behind a locked gate, but you do not go through the gate to get the cache, you must turn and go west & up the hill. The trail passes giant tulip trees and mighty oaks that loom over gnarled groves of tall mountain laurel shrubs. If you want to explore the preserve, you can get a key from the fish hatchery but the keys are not needed for this cache.
Note: This is one of those "Cache is no big deal, but I have to own this location" hides.
